NOPSA investigates Christmas fatality on offshore vessel

The Karratha Spirit vessel is operated by Teekay Shipping, and is located in the Legendre field 105km north of Dampier.THE NATIONAL Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority is investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Christmas Eve 2008 on board the Karratha Spirit facility.

The accident while the facility was being disconnected from its mooring buoy in response to adverse weather triggered by Tropical Cyclone Billy.

The Karratha Spirit vessel is operated by Teekay Shipping, and is located in the Legendre field 105km north of Dampier.

The authority’s team of occupational health and safety inspectors arrived on the facility in the afternoon of Christmas day 2008, and are now continuing their investigations.
