Researchers awarded for mining safety study

The IEA/Liberty Mutual Medal in Occupational Safety and Ergonomics will be awarded to Associate Professor Verna Blewett, Dr Sally Ferguson and Professor Drew Dawson for their Digging Deeper study.THREE researchers from the University of South Australia have been awarded an occupational safety and ergonomics medal for a study on OHS in the Australian mining industry.
The IEA/Liberty Mutual Medal in Occupational Safety and Ergonomics will be awarded to Associate Professor Verna Blewett, Dr Sally Ferguson and Professor Drew Dawson for their Digging Deeper study.
The medal is said to be the most prestigious international award for the field of occupational ergonomics and safety. It comes with US$10,000 prize money.
The Digging Deeper study resulted in the Platinum Rules, which outlines ten key action areas to guide the NSW mining industry in managing OHS more effectively.
