On 4 November 2008, SafeWork SA inspector and investigator David Barrett explained how proper machine guarding can be used to manage injury hazards.
Chief Adviser Human Factors from the authority, Anne Mussared, dealt with the topic of body stressing. These injuries caused by moving, lifting and carrying are common and cost tens of millions of dollars every year. Mussared explained how to find and fix hidden hazards in manual tasks.
There was also a presentation on electric shock incidents involving light switches, with practical advice from Clipsal on how to eliminate or minimise these dangers.
