Safe Work Australia Week

According to the council, the Safe Work Australia Week runs from 19 to 25 October 2008. THE AUSTRALIAN Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC) has encouraged all organisations in Australia to start preparing for national Safe Work Australia Week.
According to the council, the Safe Work Australia Week runs from 19 to 25 October 2008. It will aim to focus attention on workplace safety, encouraging workers to get involved in safety in their workplace to reduce death, injury and disease.
Statistics provided by the council show more than 140,000 Australians are seriously injured at work every year, and more than 250 die because of work-related injuries.
The ASCC website is promoting involvement with the Safe Work Australia week by putting up events, posters, logos and templates for download, as well as promotional products for distribution in the workplace.
It is promoting a simple and cheap approach to events, pushing for morning teas, review of safety procedures and safety slogan competitions, approaches used in the 2007 Safe Work Australia Week.
Each state and territory will also be conducting a range of initiatives as part of Safe Work Australia Week.
