The roadshow to safety

Specialists from the authority’s workplace health and safety, premium and return to work teams will be in charge of the events.WORKSAFE Victoria will go on their annual roadshow to metropolitan and regional centres, and has invited employers and workers to attend the community briefings in late May and June.
There will be a total of 17 briefings covering a range of topics. Specialists from the authority’s workplace health and safety, premium and return to work teams will be in charge of the events.
According to the authority, past experience has shown the annual roadshow is a valuable way to raise awareness of workplace safety and workers compensation issues in an informal environment.
The events will allow workers and employers to get information directly from WorkSafe staff in a face-to-face manner, and ask questions specific to their work.
This year, the roadshow includes topics such as “making your workplace safer”, “innovative return to work initiatives” and “your WorkSafe premium for 2008/09”.
“Making your workplace safer” checks workers’ understanding of safety basics, provides information on health and safety, and tells workers and employers about new WorkSafe Project.
“Innovative return to work initiatives” is for employers, and is about new ways of helping injured workers get back to work as soon as possible.
“Your WorkSafe premium for 2008/09” deals with how WorkSafe Injury Insurance premiums will be assessed in 2008/09, and the link between better safety, effective return to work practices and the amount companies have to pay.
