A 46-year-old truck driver has died after falling from a trailer in Victoria, making up the state’s third work related fatality in a week.The driver was parked at a Western Highway truck stop on 8 April 2008 when he fell from the trailer while adjusting a load.He died in hospital from his head injuries on 9 April.According to WorkSafe Victoria, falls from height are a major contributor to workplace deaths and serious injuries each year. This is despite well-known measures for preventing falls.The authority says the disastrous week started with the death of a man when a steel building frame collapsed on 2 April, followed by the electrocution of a linesman on 3 April. The third death has pushed the work-related death toll in Victoria to seven since the start of the year.WorkSafe urged all Victorians to ensure their workplaces and work practices are as safe as possible. It reminded workers that their safety was in their own hands.
