Updates to MSDS needed

Many materials in the industrial workplace are classified as hazardous substances due to their risk to worker safetyMANUFACTURERS in Western Australia have until 24 April 2008 to ensure their Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) meet the content requirements of the 2003 national code of practice.
Changes to the Occupational Safety and Health regulations resulted in the implementation of the 2003 national code of practice for the preparation of MSDS.
Many materials in the industrial workplace are classified as hazardous substances due to their risk to worker safety. The law requires suppliers and manufacturers of such substances to provide employers, workers and other stakeholders with the necessary information in the form of MSDS and labels.
This information should inform readers on safe risk management and harm avoidance when using the hazardous substances. MSDSs have to be kept up to date.
The Western Australia commission for Occupational Safety and Health says it has a revised guidance note which explains in detail the compliance requirements of the 2003 national code.
