Vehicle collision alert system

A driver display unit is mounted in the vehicle, and displays a green light during active status, a yellow light when an object has been detected in front of the vehicle and a red light when action is neededRADAR Safety Technologies has announced a collision alert system for trucks, warehousing and other industrial vehicles.
The FrontAlert system is currently available for the Commercial Vehicle market, but will soon launch for the Automotive and Mining sectors. It is said to detect hazards in the vehicle’s path and alert the operators of a potential collision.
The system uses a radar-based technology to calculate the vehicle speed, distance to the object, and the closing speed between the two.
A driver display unit is mounted in the vehicle, and displays a green light during active status, a yellow light when an object has been detected in front of the vehicle and a red light when action is needed to avoid a collision.
Once corrective action is taken, the system will resume its normal status.
According to the company, the system is unaffected by weather conditions such as fog, snow, dust, rain, night or twilight. It also claims there are big potential savings in costs associated with personal injury, vehicles and property damage.
