What to do if your forklift rolls over

AUSTRALIAN Forklift Training has highlighted the procedure forklift drivers should follow if their vehicle rolls over.
The Australian Standards advisory notice involves a series of actions which could save the driver’s life.
The first point is not to try to jump from the forklift, because the safest place to stay is in the seat, with seatbelts on.
The driver should brace feet firmly on the floor and hold on tightly to the steering wheel. Lean away from the direction the forklift is rolling, so as to minimise the chance of getting caught under the machine.
Drivers should familiarise themselves with the procedure, because roll-overs usually happen very quickly, leaving little time to think.
