Winched out to safety

Rescue workers had to be lowered into the ship via a cranePARAMEDICS have recovered a dock worker who was pinned under a 1.5 tonne weight at Victoria Docks early on 15 April 2008.
The 33 year old worker was in the hold of a ship when the suspended weight collapsed, pinning him to a drum.
The Melbourne Fire Brigade and paramedics were called to the scene at 4am to rescue the man.
According to the medical personnel, the confined space he was trapped in complicated the rescue effort. Rescue workers had to be lowered into the ship via a crane.
They then strapped the injured man onto a board and winched him out. He is currently being treated for bruising and soft tissue injuries.
