Workplaces must have trained rehabilitation coordinators

9 January 2009 Print this article Comments Share this article

Workplaces in South Australia with 30 or more employees are now required to have properly-trained rehabilitation and return to work coordinators.

According the WorkCover SA, the changes came into effect on 1 January 2009. Employers have until 30 June 2009 to complete training their coordinator and notify the authority of the appointment.

The coordinator will focus on and coordinate rehabilitation and return to work efforts as early intervention. This can reduce lost-time claims and overall claims costs.

Employers can make use of a number of registered training providers approved by WorkCover SA for training their coordinators.
