WORKSAFE Victoria is holding a free information session on “How to make managing OHS and workers’ compensation as easy as possible”.
The information session is part of WORKSAFE Victoria’s ‘Support for the Juggler’ initiative.
Jugglers are people working in medium segment businesses who coordinate return to work for injured workers along with occupational health and safety, on top of their other duties.
For Jugglers to do their jobs effectively, there should be processes in place to initiate and monitor an injured worker’s RTW and to liaise with all stakeholders at key stages of the process.
Colleagues and managers should provide acknowledgement and encouragement of the Jugglers’ RTW and OHS responsibilities, and provide the time for those tasks.
The workload of Jugglers can also be reduced with a preventative OHS system rather than a reactive incident-by-incident OHS system.
WorkSafe is developing a range of training and support to help Jugglers achieve these outcomes. The information session will focus on the difficulties of juggling occupational health and safety and return to work duties on top of a full-time job, and will provide information on how to get the right help at the right tim.
The “How to make managing OHS and workers’ compensation as easy as possible” information session will run on 27 October 2009 and 29 October 2009 as part of Work Safe Week.
