SAFEWORK SA has opened nominations for the 2009 Safe Work Awards, which it claims will spotlight the best practice health and safety in South Australian workplaces.
According to SA Industrial Relations Minister Paul Caica, the Safe Work Awards will recognise and reward good practice, and also help set clear safety examples for others to follow.
The award nominations close at 5pm on 31 July 2009, and the awards will be presented on 30 October 2009 as the concluding act of the Safe Work 2009 Month.
There are six award categories, including Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System, Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue, Best Workplace Health and Safety Practices in Small Business, Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety, Employer of the Year and Best Safety Public Event.
The 2009 Safe Work Awards are linked to the National Safe Work Australia Awards, and winners in four of the state categories are automatically nominated for the national awards in those categories.
