Lockout device for handwheel valves prevent human error
ACRODYNE is releasing a lockout device for handwheels in Australia with interlocking key release mechanism.
The Smart Handwheel Lock (SHL) is manufactured by Dutch industrial safety and valve control company
Netherlocks.
According to the company, no valve details, extra parts or customised adapters are needed. The SHL locks the wheel into pre-set safe positions.
Traditionally, valve locks could only be fitted effectively if they were designed according to the precise specification of each valve.
The distributor says the SHL can be fitted onto any existing handwheel-operated valve for mechanical securing. It attaches onto the valve stem underneath the wheel without replacing or altering any part of the assembly, and can be fitted while the valve is still in operation.
Interlocks minimise the danger caused by the potential for human error, by preventing the operation of the valve until it is safe to do so.
