Construction induction now nationally consistent

THE Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC) has congratulated WorkSafe Victoria for its role in creating a nationally consistent approach to construction induction.

The work safety authority has mandated the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work. This means all states and territories now have a consistent approach to construction induction.

According to the ASCC, the adoption of the code of practice by state and territory governments will reduce inconsistency and confusion for employers and workers in the construction industry.

Having one set of arrangements will also reduce the regulatory burden for employers, especially in companies that operate across states. Induction training applies to the commercial, civil and residential construction sectors.
