BANNER Engineering has released a series of hinge safety interlock switches for safeguarding hazards.

The SI-HG63 is designed to replace standard hinges on swinging guards, gates and doors. They are said to be flexible with two normally closed safety contacts and one normally open auxiliary contact.

When the hinge switch is activated, the closed safety contacts are forced open by mechanical means and this interrupts the electrical circuit, stopping the machine control.

The hinge switches are repositionable, with a safety switching point that is adjustable throughout the hinge’s zero to 270 degrees range of motion.

According to the company, the switches can withstand harsh plant environments, with a robust PBT housing and stainless steel hinge. Each hinge can support an axial and radial load of around 120kg.
