KINGGEE has released a high visibility indicator card which allows businesses and employees to check if their high visibility garments meet the Australian day time standard.
High visibility garments are required in certain environments, so workers can be easily seen by motorists or those working around machinery.
According to KingGee, its high visibility garments are compliant to AS/NZS 1906.4:1997 when they are manufactured. However, high visibility garments will fade and lose their brightness due to wearing and washing over time. This is especially true for high visibility garments made from cotton.
The fading of colours will affect the visibility of an individual, and can render a garment non-compliant with Australian standards for nonfluorescent materials, putting employees at risk of injury.
The KingGee high-visibility indicator cards provide a guide as to when a garment is compliant or not. Each card includes three shades of commonly-used colours for high visibility garments, and a visual check verifies the status of the colours.
