OTB Products has released a hand-held thermal imaging camera which can be used to rescue victims in and around structural collapse zones.
The SearchTIC camera detects and displays body heat so as to locate victims buried under surface debris or hidden by dust or smoke.
The unit is environmentally sealed, and is said to be rugged enough to withstand the severe conditions of a rescue scene. The camera weighs 1kg, and can be used in day or night, and in all weather conditions. It has a 2x digital zoom allowing for detailed search from a safe distance.
A full 127mm display allows for detailed images, while BlueLife image colourisation technology displays skin temperatures in blue, helping quick detection of human bodies even in the midst of high temperatures.
